THE STORY

INSPIRED BY THE FRENCH WORD FOR JEWEL, BIJOU IS A FUNKY, MODERN TAKE ON FINE JEWELRY. CREATED IN 2008 BY JEWELRY DESIGNER SHANNON CHRISTINE, BIJOU’S MAIN GOAL IS TO ENHANCE THE INDIGENOUS BEAUTY OF THINGS. BY UTILIZING PERSONAL CRAFTSMANSHIP, SHANNON IS ABLE TO MOLD AND ARRANGE NATURAL MATERIALS INTO UNIQUE FORMS OF ART. THINGS THAT WERE ONCE PROSAIC, NOW REQUIRE A DOUBLE TAKE.

OVER THE YEARS, BIJOU HAS EVOLVED FROM CLAY WORK, SEMI-PRECIOUS BEADING, TO THE NEWEST VENTURE IN PRECIOUS METALS.THE 2016 LINE OF ARROWHEADS WAS BORN OF INSPIRATION FROM A RECENT ROAD TRIP THROUGH ARIZONA; VISITING THE GRAND CANYON AND THE BEAUTIFUL NAVAJO RESERVATION. ARROWHEADS IN PARTICULAR STRUCK SHANNON’S INTEREST BECAUSE OF WHAT THEY REPRESENT NOT ONLY TO NATIVE AMERICANS BUT TO THE EVOLUTION OF MANKIND AND OUR ABILITIES.

THE ARROWHEADS

EACH ARROWHEAD IS UNIQUE, NO TWO ARE EVER THE SAME, AND THE NATURAL FLINT STONE AND AGATE USED TO CREATE THEM COMES IN SOME OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL COLORS.

ALL ARROWHEADS ARE COLLECTOR GRADE AND HAND-PICKED FROM AN EXTENSIVE ESTATE COLLECTION OF NATIVE AMERICAN ARTIFACTS. MOST PIECES WERE FOUND IN THE SOUTHWEST; IN AREAS IN AND AROUND ARIZONA, NORTHWEST TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA. EACH PIECE IS DIPPED IN EITHER 24K GOLD OR COPPER AND HUNG ON A SOFT AND STRONG, 45” DEER-SKIN LACE LEATHER  OR SUEDE CORD.
